Notes: Growing tired of the simple 3 chord songs that dominated their previous albums, Green Day released the most experimental album of their career. Recorded over five months between March and July of '97 the band ended up with 30 tracks from the sessions. The album features songs with strings, a horn section, harmonica and violin - none of which the band had used previously. The album sold well with over 2 million copies sold in the US and saw massive success from the Good Riddance single.

In 2023, the band released a 25th Anniversary box set called Nimrod XXV which contained previously unheard demos (including 6 previously unreleased songs) and live tracks.

Session Notes
The song ‘Black Eyeliner’ would later have a verse used in ‘Church On Sunday’ from Warning and its melody would feature on The Longshot track ‘Kill Your Friends’.
The recording title for 'The Grouch' was 'Happy Grouch'.
Billie Joe stated on his Twitter account that the first verse of 'Scattered' was written in 1992 but he never wrote a second verse until 1996.
'Haushinka' was performed live four times in 1992, five years before it would be studio recorded for Nimrod. You can hear one of those performances from 924 Gilman in our audio archive.
The demo version of ‘Desensitized’ features almost completely different lyrics and was unlikely to have been named that at the time of recording.
‘D.U.I.’ was unlikely to have been seriously considered for Nimrod but it would later be included on early advance copies of the b-side compilation Shenanigans. However, prior to that album's release the song was pulled due to its lyrical content. Although officially unreleased, the song would eventually leak from those initial pressings and can be heard in our audio archive.
