This guide features a collection of Green Day’s digital, charity, soundtrack and other assorted songs that don’t have a discography page on the site. Check out our singles page for a comprehensive listing of all the singles released by the band.
Digital Singles
ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE (live)
NOTES: Green Day covered this KISS classic at each date of their summer 2021 Hella Mega tour and released a live recording as a stand-alone single.
NOTES: This single was a surprise release to celebrate the beginning of Green Day’s 2021 Hella Mega tour that had been delayed from the previous summer due to the COVID pandemic. The song would peak at #27 on the Billboard rock chart and #28 on the alternative chart.
NOTES: Song made its debut on an NHL broadcast during a period when the band had struck up a partnership with the league. The song was most likely a leftover from the Father Of All sessions.
NOTES: Following the forced postponement of their 2020 summer tour due to the COVID pandemic, the band released a cover of Blondie’s ‘Dreaming’, its lyrics echoing the band’s longing for the return of live music.
NOTES: First released as a stand-alone YouTube video on December 24th 2015, the band re-released the song in 2019 as a digital single with artwork featuring “Horny” from the Father Of All album cover.
FELL FOR YOU (OTIS mix)
NOTES: Four years after the last trilogy single was released, Green Day dropped this new alternative mix digital single of the ¡UNO! track created at their home studio OTIS.
LETTERBOMB (live)
NOTES: Initially released as a bonus track on the Awesome As Fuck live album, Green Day would drop this performance of Letterbomb, recorded in Chula Vista in 2010, as a stand-alone digital single.
21 GUNS (live)
NOTES: Green Day’s live performance of 21 Guns at the Grammy awards was backed by the cast of the American Idiot Broadway show. The performance was released as a digital single.
NOTES: Originally appearing as a b-side to the ‘American Idiot’ single, ‘Shoplifter’ would later be re-released on iTunes as digital single in 2006.
NOTES: Promo digital single of Green Day performing Wake Me Up When September Ends live at Gillette Stadium on Sept 3/05.
NOTES: Green Day recorded their version of ‘I Fought the Law’ for a Pepsi and iTunes commercial that aired during Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004. While the track was originally written by The Crickets, the band clearly used The Clash’s 1979 classic cover as their blueprint. Shortly after its Super Bowl debut, the song was released as a standalone digital single.
Standalone & Charity Singles
Don’t Want To Know If You Are Lonely
RECORD STORE DAY
NOTES: Recorded for MTV Influences and previously released as a b-side to the Warning single, Green Day’s Hüsker Dü cover would be re-released for Record Store Day with the original version on the flip side. It would later receive a wide release with its inclusion on the Warning 25th Anniversary box set.
Working Class Hero
INSTANT KARMA
NOTES: Green Day earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance for their cover of John Lennon’s ‘Working Class Hero’. The song would hit #53 on the Billboard Hot 100, #10 on the alternative chart and #18 on the rock chart.
The Saints Are Coming
MUSIC RISING
NOTES: Green Day would team up with U2 for this Skids cover to raise money to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina. The single would hit #51 on the Billboard Hot 100, #22 on the alternative chart and #33 on the rock chart.
Soundtrack Singles
Holy Toledo!
MARK, MARY & SOME OTHER PEOPLE
NOTES: Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump scored this summer film so it’s no surprise he enlisted his Hella Mega tour mates to supply a song for the movie.
The Forgotten
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART TWO
NOTES: Recorded for the ¡Tre! album, ‘The Forgotten’ first premiered in the Twilight movie closing credits and had a movie themed music video as the lead single from the soundtrack album. Despite the popularity of the franchise at the time, the single failed to chart.
The Simpsons Theme
THE SIMPSONS MOVIE
NOTES: Green Day’s performance of The Simpsons Theme was released as a digital single to promote The Simpsons Movie where the band also appeared as cartoon versions of themselves.
NOTES: This Mike Dirnt-penned song is a fan favorite recorded during the Insomniac sessions. Green Day famously fired their management after ‘J.A.R.’ was leaked to radio stations ahead of its official release. The track was issued as a single following its inclusion on the Angus movie soundtrack, hitting #1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. It was later included on the band’s 2001 greatest hits compilation, International Superhits!
Other Releases
Hearts Collide
KNOW YOUR ENEMY (single)
NOTES: Released along with ‘Lights Out’ as a b-side to the ‘Know Your Enemy’ single from 21st Century Breakdown. Private Hell (with Iggy Pop)
SKULL RING
NOTES: Co-written by Iggy Pop and Billie Joe Armstrong, ‘Private Hell’ features the full Green Day lineup on instruments. The track was released on Pop’s 2003 album, Skull Ring, with Billie Joe on guitar and backing vocals, Mike Dirnt on bass, and Tre Cool on drums.

D.U.I.
SHENANIGANS (leaked)
NOTES: Written by Tre Cool and recorded in the Nimrod sessions, ‘D.U.I.’ was included on early advance copies of Shenanigans but was pulled due to its lyrical content before the album’s public release. Despite its removal, the track title still appears in the album’s lyric insert, hidden under a layer of digital spray paint. Although officially unreleased, the song eventually leaked from those initial pressings and can be heard in our audio archive.
The Ballad Of Wilhelm Fink
SHORT MUSIC FOR SHORT PEOPLE
NOTES: Released on a Fat Wreck Chords compilation featuring 102 bands performing 30-second songs, Green Day’s contribution is a solo acoustic track by Billie Joe. While the album is now out of print and unavailable on streaming platforms, you can listen to the full performance in our audio archive.
