Notes: Recorded in April and May of 2000, Warning featured an acoustic folk sound across several tracks continuing the experimentation that began with Nimrod. While many fans and critics praised the growth of the band, the album was the lowest selling major label album they had released to that point. In 2025, a 25th anniversary box set was released featuring a remastered version of the album, demos, b-sides and a live concert.

Session Notes
The track 'Clusterbomb' would resurface years later as 'Cluster Bomb' during the Cigarettes & Valentines / American Idiot sessions, eventually becoming 'Letterbomb'.
'Waste Away' & 'Sleepyhead' would also later show up in the Cigarettes & Valentines sessions but have never been released.
The working title for ‘Waiting’ was ‘Waiting A Long Time.’ It is also believed that ‘Bob's Your Uncle’ was an early title for ‘Jackass’ on initial versions of the tracklist.
While ‘Scumbag’ and their cover of the Ramones’ ‘Outsider’ appeared as b-sides to the ‘Warning’ single, they were not part of the album sessions. Both tracks were recorded at Billie Joe's home-based Catbox Studio. The songs can be heard on Shenanigans and on the Warning:25 anniversary set.
Another 'Warning' single b-side, the Hüsker Dü cover ‘Don’t Wanna Know If You Are Lonely,’ also originated outside these sessions; it was instead recorded specifically for MTV Influences.
Similarly, the first version of ‘Maria’ (which was later re-recorded for International Superhits!) originated at Catbox Studio after the Warning sessions and was released as a b-side to the ‘Waiting’ single and later on the Warning:25 anniversary set.
