Green Day release Nimrod XXV Box Set

Nimrod XXV Box Set Released

Green Day’s classic 1997 album Nimrod is still celebrating its 25th anniversary three months after the fact with the release of a special box set. The set, titled Nimrod XXV, includes the original album, a live concert recorded in Philadelphia, and previously unreleased demo tracks.

If you didn’t shell out for the box set, you can still enjoy the newly released music on your preferred streaming service where the album will be available at midnight on the 27th in your local time zone.

What most fans will be excited about is the release of 14 previously unheard demos from the Nimrod recording sessions. These demos provide an inside look at the creative process behind the album and offer a unique perspective on how the songs developed.

One song in particular, the previously unreleased ‘Black Eyeliner’, contains lyrics that would later feature on ‘Church On Sunday’ from Warning and a melody that would show up on The Longshot track ‘Kill Your Friends’. Another highlight is the track ‘Place Inside My Head’ which features bassist Mike Dirnt taking a rare turn on lead vocals.

Once you’ve had a chance to listen to everything make sure to head over to our Nimrod XXV page and add your ratings for the box set and new songs. You can also join the discussion about the album or anything else Green Day related on our forum.
