The Longshot is Billie Joe Armstrong’s solo project for which he is the only studio member, taking on all instruments in the recording of the album aside from a guest appearance on drums for the track ‘Happiness’ by his son Joey. 

Several of the songs on the albums and EPs released by The Longshot had their beginnings in previous projects Billie had worked on. The tracks ‘Keeps Me Satisfied‘ & ‘Give It All To You‘ from the Bullets EP and ‘The Last Time’ from the Love Is For Losers LP were all songs Billie had written for the play These Paper Bullets. Similarly, the single ‘Devils Kind‘ along with ‘Fever Blister’ from the Razor Baby EP and ‘Body Bag’ from the Love Is For Losers LP were all written for a movie Billie starred in called Ordinary World.

After the spring 2018 release of The Longshot album, Billie embarked on a US/Canada summer tour with Jeff Matika on bass, Kevin Preston on guitar and David S. Field on drums to round out the group. The band reunited the following summer for a small California tour and then for the final time to date for a New Year’s Eve show at The Golden Bull in Oakland.
