While Billie Joe has stayed active during the coronavirus lockdown with his ‘No Fun Mondays’ cover project along with several appearances on talk shows (he’ll next appear on Good Morning America on June 5th) and COVID-19 benefits, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool have stayed relatively quiet.
That changed today with the release of a full band cover of Blondie’s ‘Dreaming’ which was scheduled to drop on music streaming services on Friday at midnight local time but released an hour early on YouTube.
No word yet on if the band were actually able to get into a studio together to record it or if they each recorded their parts separately at their homes, but we do know they are eager to jump into the studio as soon as possible to record the follow up to Father Of All Motherfuckers.
The video for the song seems to be an ode to a lost summer of touring with the band forced to postpone their Hella Mega dates and can only dream of a time they will be able to get back up on stage once again.

Song lyrics
When I met you in the restaurant
You could tell I was no debutante
You asked me what’s my pleasure
A movie or a measure?
I’ll have a cup of tea and tell you of my dreaming
Dreaming is free
I don’t want to live on charity
Pleasure’s real or is it fantasy?
Reel to reel is living rarity
People stop and stare at me We just walk on by – we just keep on dreaming
Feet feet, walking a two mile
Meet meet, meet me at the turnstile
I never met him, I’ll never forget himDream dream, even for a little while
Dream dream, filling up an idle hour
Fade away, radiateI sit by and watch the river flow
I sit by and watch the traffic go
Imagine something of your very own
Something you can have and holdI’d build a road in gold just to have some dreaming
Dreaming is free
Dreaming
Dreaming is free
Dreaming
Dreaming is free
