While it came as no surprise today to learn that Green Day wouldn’t be performing at their scheduled tour dates in Asia this March, it will disappoint fans to learn that the shows have been cancelled rather than postponed, as they had been last year, due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The block of cancelled dates includes shows in Manila, Taipei, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo, Osaka and Singapore that were to kick off on March 13th before winding up on April 1st.
No official statement has been released from the band thus far but concert promoter MMILIVE who was putting on the Manila show indicated that “the band hopes to see their fans in Asia in the near future”. Refunds for all shows are available at the point of purchase.
You can check out what remains of Green Day’s scheduled shows on our tour page but it’s unlikely that this will be the last of the cancellations. The bands summer Hella Mega tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer will be top of mind for most fans wondering if the pandemic will wipe it out for a second straight year – and likely for good.
