After a completely silent month of April, Green Day finally checked in tonight with another 1972 tease. In a post to their official TikTok account, the band can be seen discussing the acoustics of the studio for Tre Cool’s drums for a “big slow song”.
As we previously reported longtime producer Rob Cavallo, who has been absent from the band’s past two releases, is front and center and back in the fold for the new album and can be clearly seen in the video.
Fittingly, the video also has audio from the American Idiot track ‘Homecoming’ playing in the background as the band are in the same Ocean Way Recordings studio where they recorded parts of that album and its followup, 21st Century Breakdown. At the beginning of the video bassist Mike Dirnt can be heard exclaiming “if these walls could talk…”.
