Gibson has unveiled its latest signature guitar for Billie Joe, called the 2023 Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior. This new model is similar to Billie’s previous 2018 signature LP Junior, featuring a mahogany body, mahogany neck with Armstrong’s custom slim taper profile, and rosewood fingerboard.
However, it does have a few significant differences, including a P-90 DC Dogear pickup that replaces the previous model’s ’57 Classic humbucker. The new P-90 has a dual-coil design that reduces unwanted noise while aiming to replicate the classic tone of the pickup.
Other updates include a Graph Tech nut, a truss rod cover carrying Billie’s signature, and a bright pink hardshell case with leopard print plush lining. The guitar itself can be purchased with a silver mist finish or vintage ebony gloss.
While the new additions are nice, the guitar’s price has increased by almost 60%, from $1,399 to $2,199, compared to the 2018 model. However, those who are not willing to spend that much can always consider the 2021 Epiphone Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior, which is priced around $549 and also features a P-90 pickup.
