After a great summer rocking stadiums on the Hella Mega tour and a headlining performance at Life Is Beautiful, we’ve come to the last scheduled show for Green Day in 2021. Thankfully, tonight’s event will be live-streamed on a variety of platforms and can be watched by anybody in the world!
Check out all the details below about how you can watch the show tonight and head over to our live thread to discuss it with other fans. If you do miss their performance, just come back here Sunday afternoon and the post will be updated with video from the event.
About the event: Join fellow Global Citizens, historic artists, and leaders from around the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty. This 24-hour event is a part of our campaign, a Recovery Plan for the World, which focuses on COVID-19, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet; and advancing equity for all.
Who is performing? Along with Green Day, there will be performances from Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Lorde, Metallica and many more.
What time does the event start? The event will kick off at 1 pm ET on Saturday and wraps up 24 hours later.
What time will Green Day be performing? While exact set times have not been announced, a rep from Global Citizen says to expect “bigger names” closer to the end of the show (in their respective countries). The US performances in New York begin at 4 pm ET and in Los Angeles at 10 pm ET. This likely means Green Day will perform somewhere between the evening hours of Saturday to early morning (ET) hours of Sunday if they are considered part of the LA show.
Where will Green Day be performing? Green Day will be performing from California but they are not taking part in the LA show at the Greek Theatre. The band will instead perform from a soundstage or other unknown location. (Edit: turns out they used a pre-taped clip of the band performing ‘Pollyanna’, ‘Boulevard Of Broken Dreams’ and ‘Longview’ on the Hella Mega Tour).
Haven’t they played Global Citizen before? Yes, the band was part of the 2017 festival and performed in New York. Check out their setlist from that show and watch their performance on YouTube.
How can I watch it? You can watch on YouTube and a wide variety of other streaming platforms along with network TV stations. Check the Global Citizens website for a full breakdown of all the ways you can catch the event.
