Former D Generation frontman Jesse Malin announced today that his upcoming song titled ‘Strangers & Thieves’ will feature and was co-written by Billie Joe Armstrong. Malin gave a bit of background on the song in a post to his Instagram; “Here’s a new song I love. Me and Billie Joe wrote it after walking around New York one Sunday afternoon ..it’s called Strangers and Thieves”.
The song will be available on all streaming platforms on June 14, 2019, and is available for pre-order now.
This isn’t the first time Malin and Billie have collaborated, back in 2009 he recorded a song called ‘Depression Times‘ with Green Day and the track was released under the band name Rodeo Queens.
As we reported in early April, Billie was also recently a featured vocalist on Morrissey’s latest album, California Son, appearing on the track ‘Wedding Bell Blues’.
As for new Green Day music, the only official confirmation we’ve had is that he was writing songs for a new album in December of last year. There are rumours that a new album may not be far off though and the band may have already hit the studio with Butch Walker but we are still awaiting official word on that.
