Green Day to perform at the NFL Honors

The NFL announced today that Green Day will open the 10th annual NFL Honors primetime special this Saturday on CBS at 9 pm ET/PT. The awards show, hosted by Steve Harvey, will be pre-taped but Green Day’s performance is expected to be new based on their tweet that they are fired up to get back on stage.

This past New Years eve, fans were left disappointed when the bands announced performance on FOX’s year end special turned out to be just a year old clip from a previously televised iHeart special. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case this time around.

It will be interesting to see if the band will promote a song from Father Of All… almost a year to the day after it was released on February 7th, 2020 or if they will just dig into their arsenal of hits from Dookie (which turned 27 today) or American Idiot as they have in the past.

Either way, it’ll be nice to see them back on stage after a year of cancelled shows due to this neverending pandemic.
