Green Day perform at the Pre-Grammy Gala

Green Day were one of the surprise performers at the annual Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Gala in Beverly Hills last night. The band were introduced by superfan Serena Williams who said while announcing their appearance that she’d like to join “her favorite band” on the upcoming Saviors tour as a mascot.

Green Day kicked off the show with ‘American Idiot’ after which Billie Joe said to the crowd “Don’t cheer, vote” before launching into ‘Basket Case’. The six hour event also included performances from Ice Spice, Noah Kahan, Josh Groban, Public Enemy, Isley Brothers, Gladys Knight and many more.

While it’s a nice honour in itself to be selected by Davis to perform at this event, hopefully next year at this time Green Day will instead be on stage for the awards night when they hand out the best rock album Grammy.
