Billie Joe Armstrong surprise dropped a new cover today of ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ by Tommy James & The Shondells. The song was released with an accompanying video that features numerous photos of Green Day from throughout their career.
In the description of the video, Billie Joe had the following to say:
Dear friends.. While we’ve all been in quarantine I’ve been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life. Family, friends and of course music. I recorded a cover of Tommy James and the shondells “I think we’re alone now” in my bedroom. I figure if we have to spend this time in isolation at least we can be alone together.

The song comes as a pleasant surprise for fans as we await word on the fate of upcoming Green Day tour dates as well as the Hella Mega Tour this summer. Currently, there has been no change to the status of any upcoming show (aside from the previously postponed dates) but we know the band will try to honour every date they can so long as the safety of the fans can be guaranteed.
