Green Day - Troubled Times

We live in Troubled Times

With all the unrest in the world after the horrifying death of George Floyd at the hands of the police, we’ve chosen to stay quiet and listen for the past week to give space to the more important issues at hand.

But we urge you to do whatever you can – whether it’s participating in peaceful protest, supporting Black Lives Matter or just taking the time to listen and educate yourself on the issues of systematic racism that the Black community has long struggled with.

I think we can all be proud to be apart of a fan community that is so accepting of all races and sexualities and have a band that’s willing to speak up on social issues. Stay safe and stay strong.

No Fun Mondays / GMA

It’s now been two straight weeks with no new cover for Billie’s ‘No Fun Mondays’ project. The previous week was a planned break for the Memorial Day weekend while the past week was justifiably skipped to keep attention on the more important issues at hand.

You may have also been waiting for Billie’s appearance on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series on Friday. That too was postponed to a later underdetermined date so GMA could feature a Black artist, Gary Clark Jr. We’ll let you know as soon as they release a new performance date for Billie.

London Hella Mega dates

Three dates remain on Green Day’s summer tour schedule with no postponements announced and fans continue to seek answers. We can tell you that the June 24th show in Glasgow is confirmed to be postponed on the venue website.

The shows in London on June 26 & 27th have received no updates but there is zero chance they will be happening. Besides the fact that Green Day would never be so irresponsible as to have a stadium concert in the midst of a global pandemic, the decision is taken out of their hands anyway with public gatherings in England still limited to six people.

Lookout! Records tribute album

Pavid Vermin yesterday released a Lookout! Records tribute album and he says initial sales proceeds will be going to “various black-led community charities and bail funds, with perpetual future sales being split between the Rhode Island food bank and Save Pangolins”.

Pavid describes the album as “a love letter to my favorite label of all time”. Former Lookout! owner and Kerplunk cover artist Chris Appelgren even stepped in to do the cover illustrations for the release. You can check out the cover and tracklist below and head over to Bandcamp to purchase a digital or CD copy.
