Mike Dirnt to sell career-spanning gear collection on Reverb
Green Day's bassist is selling instruments, clothing, and memorabilia spanning from the Dookie era to the present.
Mike Dirnt has officially partnered with Reverb to open a dedicated artist shop featuring a massive, career spanning archive of personal gear, stage worn wardrobe, and touring equipment. Featuring everything from the Dookie era to modern touring cycles, the collection includes vintage studio instruments, road worn tour rigs, and customized apparel from across Green Day’s catalogue.
The instrument collection features several notable basses with deep ties to Green Day’s recording and touring history. Key pieces include a custom-painted and pinstriped Fender Precision Bass used on the American Idiot tour, a modified Fender bass utilized during the Nimrod era and studio sessions, and a vintage 1962 Fender Precision Bass in a faded Fiesta Red finish that served as a regular part of Dirnt’s studio setup. The inventory also includes battle-scarred remnants from the road, including broken Gibson Grabber G-3 bodies that were collateral damage during late ’90s and early 2000s live sets.
For amp collectors, the shop features Dirnt’s first-ever Ampeg SVT 8x10 cabinet, purchased after the band received their first major paychecks and used throughout the Dookie tour. The sale also offers vintage Mesa Boogie touring rigs alongside individual, signed 10-inch replacement speakers kept in storage over the years to rebuild cabinets knocked over during Tré Cool’s post-set pyro destruction on the Nimrod and Warning tours.
In addition to musical equipment, Dirnt is parting with an extensive selection of stage wear and video wardrobe. Highlights include the leather bomber jacket from the 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' video, the sister jacket to the one worn in the 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' video, the security uniform from the 'Oh Yeah!' video, and assorted customized vests and patches from Foxboro Hot Tubs and the 21st Century Breakdown eras.
