Show notes
John: "Green Day started around 8:15pm, opening with Maria. I started bodysurfing after my friends boosted me up. It was sweet because I hadn't ever done it before. We tried to push our way up to the front but it was too tight and too much of a struggle to progress. Of course like they always do they picked 3 people to go up on stage and play. They picked a drummer and a bassist, who both played perfectly, which got the crowd into it. I'm a drummer and my friends boosted me up to try to get me picked, but we were about 15 feet back and he only picks people from the front. Finally, he picked a girl to play the guitar part. She tried it, but couldn't quite get it. He worked with her, but she struggled, so they picked a guy to play it, and he played it flawlessly. Finally after the song, Billie Joe gave his green guitar to the girl that couldn't play it and jokingly said, 'Now learn to play that fucking thing, because you suck!' The crowd got a big laugh, and like I've read about the other shows on this tour, the bassist left the stage only by jumping off the stage. He got a pretty good jump, too. They continued on with the show, with Billie sometimes bringing out his supersoaker and spraying the crowd. After, I think, Minority, Billie faced the stack of amps, while Tre and Mike started trashing the stage. Tre took his bass drum and slammed it on top of his high hat, which got a roar from the crowd. Mike swung his bass around. And then Billie ended their part of the show with the sweet ballad Good Riddance."
