Show notes
Setlist is incomplete and out of order
[Translated from German] "The subsequent break lasted a bit longer than Zebrahead's set, and so Green Day took the stage around 9:00 p.m. I somehow don't remember which song was the opener, but I do remember that they played a relatively large number of older songs, with the few Warning songs coming towards the end. Billy Joe also asked the audience several times which song they wanted to hear and then played it.
The absolute highlight was probably the decision to form a sort of "spontaneous band" and ask the audience who could play guitar, bass, and drums. Three young people volunteered, and the result was surprisingly good. In just under two hours, Green Day played everything they had to offer. During "Time Of Your Life" and "The Ballad Of Wilhelm Frink" (the "Short Music" song), Billy stood alone on stage. During the latter, a T-shirt was thrown at his guitar, causing him to stop the song prematurely (well, not that much prematurely...).
If I were a bigger Green Day fan, I could probably go into more detail about the playlist, but that shouldn't bother you now; after all, it's the atmosphere that counts. While during Zebrahead, they "only" pogoed (I couldn't hold back at times either), during Green Day, it was more of a squash. At least it got me to the second row, where I could really hear the mask tricks and the water pistol.
Green Day, by the way, is a six-piece live. They're augmented by a second guitarist and two horn players, so the live sound is really good.
What else should I say? Basketcase, When I Come Around, Minority, Warning, an Operation Ivy cover... they had it all. It didn't really bother me that the current single "Blood, Sex and Booze" wasn't played. What was a bother"
