Show notes
Abe_Vigoda: "I got into punk in about '86. One of my friends had their 1039/SOSH album which became often played. Around the same time, we were listening to a lot of stuff, like early NOFX, Guttermouth, Screeching Weasel, Angry Samoans, etc. First time Green Day played here, they wound up playing in a tiny diner to maybe about 20 or 30 people. They crashed on my friend's couch."
Shaun Cowan: "The first time Green Day came to Edmonton they played 2 shows; first show was Sunday matinee/all ages at the Bronx and an acquaintance booked this show for a couple days later. This person didn't have the best reputation, so I helped him with shows to ensure that bands got paid and that flyers were put up. When the band arrived they weren't happy about the show being 18+ and that the bar was a strip club on the days we didn't have shows. They were cool to me about the situation and an all ages show was quickly put together at the Ritz Diner, just down the road. The roadie for GD on this tour was Aaron Cometbus, and I was quite excited to meet him and buy a zine. ...The Ritz show was so tiny, not a lot of people."
