This is a letter a parent wrote to Green Day complaining about the explicit content of Insomniac. Billie Joe faxed it to me to have the letter and his response posted on the website, which was at GreenDay.net at the time. With the release of Nimrod in 1997, we’d also find out that the letter had inspired the song ‘Reject’. Billie’s response letter even contains a lyric from the song; “(What’s) the difference between you and me? I do what I want, you do what you’re told.”
